Dr. Danielle Hibbott holds a Doctorate in Educational and Child Psychology (DEdCPsy) from Sheffield University. Prior to this, she earned a Master of Arts (MA) in Advanced Educational Practice with a specialism in Special Educational Needs (SEN) from Liverpool John Moores University and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) with Honours in Psychology of Education from Lancaster University. Before qualifying as an Educational Psychologist, Danielle gained over a decade of experience working in mainstream and specialist schools, as well as children’s care homes across the UK, in a variety of roles including teaching assistant, key worker/learning mentor, behaviour support specialist, SEN caseworker, and assistant psychologist.
Danielle is passionate about promoting inclusion within education and fostering a systemic approach to supporting children and young people. She works collaboratively with educators, families, and professionals in a solution-focused manner to enhance understanding of individual learning needs and drive meaningful, sustainable progress. Her approach integrates both standardised and dynamic methods of assessment for behavioural, neuropsychological, and neurodevelopmental presentations while exploring cognitive learning profiles to identify strengths and needs. This process enables her to examine the interactive factors that contribute to challenges in education and overall development, ensuring a nuanced and holistic understanding of each child’s unique profile. She has also contributed to whole-school policy development and training, embedding evidence-based inclusive practices across educational settings.
Danielle has a particular interest in supporting children and young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, having completed her doctoral thesis in this area. Additionally, she has experience working with those affected by trauma, adverse childhood experiences, those in care settings, and emotional school-based avoidance. Her research and practice focus on examining the underlying influences that contribute to challenges in education and reducing barriers to access, with the ultimate goal of creating inclusive, empowering environments for both young people and the professionals who support them.
