Dr. Mariam Karaman has obtained her MBBS degree from the Faculty of Medicine at University of Sharjah. She continued her professional development, obtaining Arab board certification in Psychiatry. Dr Mariam currently works clinically in the Intellectual Disabilities Clinical Academic Group at Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital, Dubai.
With 5 years of clinical experience, Dr. Karaman has worked in diverse psychiatric settings, including Adult Psychiatry Units, Psychiatric emergency department, addiction, old age, rehabilitation, forensic and community outreach programs. Aside from her clinical practice Dr. Karaman has been involved in teaching undergraduate medical students and trainees.
She has special interest in the mental health of people with special needs. She is passionate about raising awareness about mental health, neurodiversity and advocating for inclusion of people of determination in the community.
